MTSU will take “appropriate disciplinary actions” in regard to a student arrested and charged with sexual assault of a woman in Panama City Beach, Florida, a spokesman said Thursday.

George Davon Kennedy, a freshman from Decatur, Georgia, who transferred to MTSU in January, was arrested earlier this week and charged as a principal to sexual battery by multiple perpetrators. Kennedy is being held in Dekalb County Jail in Georgia.

“The university has initiated what we consider to be appropriate disciplinary actions against Mr. Kennedy in light of the serious nature of the charges,” said spokesman Andrew Oppmann. “However, federal privacy laws do not allow the university to discuss further specifics about those actions.”
