A Murfreesboro Police officer responded on Wednesday to a reported armed robbery at The Vie apartment complex on Wenlon Drive while working off-duty security.

Around 9:31 p.m. the officer was flagged down by a resident who said he and his friend had been followed into an apartment by a male subject who discharged a handgun and then demanded everyone’s wallets and cell phones, according to an MPD police report.

At one point, the suspect struck the resident in the head with the hand gun. The suspect eventually “closed the door and ran off” after stealing the victims’ phones and wallets.

A K-9 unit unsuccessfully tracked the suspect.
