Crime: Murfreesboro Police release identity of body found near Blackman Elementary School

Murfreesboro Police released the identity of the woman who was found dead in the wooded area adjacent to Blackman Elementary School Saturday evening.

According to a Murfreesboro Police Department press release, the decedent was Murfreesboro resident Carol Brandon, 65. The release also states that Brandon has had a history of issues with the department, including incidents in which she disappeared from her home for extended periods of time and mental health issues. Prior to her death, Brandon left her home on Saturday. According to the release, there were no signs of foul play when the body was found, but the cause of death is still pending toxicology reports. The investigation is ongoing.
