The Women’s Volleyball team strove to win against The University of Illinois, yet could not surpass the Fighting Illini’s ability to score.

Starters Chelsea Ross from Middle Tennessee, and Liz McMahon from Illinois performed intensely as the home team attempted to come back from an initial set of 25-11. The second set ended more closely at 24-20 as the Blue Raiders attempted to close the gap.

Head Coach Matt Peck took two timeouts near the end of the third set with Illinois up by one. With Illinois up by two sets, the Blue Raiders needed to outperform their opponents for the remainder of the game.

Fan’s excitement came to a conclusion with Illinois’s last kill, ending the set at 25-23.

The Blue Raiders are playing Belmont University on Saturday, September 13th at home in Alumni Memorial Gym at 5 p.m.
