Middle Tennessee senior forward Cheyenne Parker earned Conference-USA Player of the Week honors after her stellar play over the past week. It was Parker’s first career C-USA Player of the Week honor.

The Queens, New York, native averaged a double-double after two road wins at Old Dominion and Charlotte. Parker compiled an average of 21 points (18-of-24 shooting) and 11 rebounds in those two road contests.

Parker also added 14 blocks during the week, with nine of them coming against Old Dominion Jan. 22 to set a new MTSU single-game record in blocked shots.

The 6-foot-4 forward moved into fifth on MTSU’s single-season blocks list after registering her 48th block at the midpoint of the season.

Parker just missed becoming the first player in MTSU women’s basketball history to have a triple-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds and nine blocks at Old Dominion.

In her next matchup, Parker scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a road win at Charlotte. Against the 49ers, Parker started the contest 11-of-11, the second best shooting performance to start a game in Middle Tennessee history.

“This is quite an honor,” Parker said to the MTSU Athletic Communications Department. “I appreciate the consideration. The big thing is we played well and earned two big road wins. It is important we keep everything in perspective and continue improving. Conference-USA is a tough conference with several great players, so anytime you receive recognition in this league it is definitely special.”

Parker has proven to have a solid year after sitting out the 2013-14 season due to NCAA transfer rules. She has compiled 17.4 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per contest, and currently ranks second in points per game in Conference-USA.

Parker only trails fellow teammate Olivia Jones’ mark of 21.3 points per game. Jones has also earned C-USA Player of the Week honors, earning the award twice in her 2014-15 campaign to this point.
