If you love country music and want to stay in the know, look no further; your weekly country music news recap can be found right here.

It’s been a big week for the country music industry and its fans. Wishful prayers were sent one artist’s way, while other artists teased fans by gradually releasing new music. Needless to say, this week plentifully provided fans with news-worthy information and announcements.

Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, made country music headlines with devastating news about Caroline’s niece, Sadie Brett Boyer, who passed away due to heart problems and numerous infections. Bryan reached out to his fans on Tuesday with a tweet saying, “We thank all of you for your prayers. Love y’all.”

In lighter, more exciting country news, Little Big Town is scheduled to release their new album “The Breaker” today. Fans of the award-winning group already know it’s going to be an unforgettable collection of country music. Over the past several weeks, the country music group has strategically released four songs on the new album — drawing more and more people in. Pop icon Taylor Swift also had a hand in the awaited album: she wrote the quartet’s latest single titled “Better Man.”

Meanwhile, one of country music’s most beloved couples, Thomas Rhett and his bride, Lauren, took to social media to share their baby news. The couple enabled fans to take part in the gender reveal with a short video … and it’s a girl! By early summer, Rhett will officially be outnumbered in his own house. Plus, the family-to-be is in the process of adopting a child from Africa.

And in his everlasting fight against ticket scalpers, Eric Church recently stood his own. In defense of his fans’ rights, Church canceled 25,000 tickets that were purchased by scalpers. By using his power for good and re-releasing the thousands of tickets, fans won’t be forced to break the bank to hear some quality live music. You can catch him on his current tour, the “Holdin’ My Own Tour.”

Wrapping up this week’s recap, country newcomer Drake White made news in an unusual way: 35,000 feet in the air.

On Monday, Southwest Airline’s “Live at 35” series featured White’s fiery live performance. Passengers planned for just a pleasant flight, but they were quickly surprised with a taste of country’s finest spunk from White.
