Black History Month was first proposed as an observance in 1970, and, since then, the annual celebration has changed the way that Americans view culture, history and other citizens. Like generations before them, MTSU students of all backgrounds celebrate the month in many different ways. We asked students what Black History Month means to them and why they think it’s important for all people to recognize the history and achievements of African-Americans.
