The Academy Award nominees were released today, and three movies stole the show: “Everything Everywhere All At Once” with 11 nominations, “The Banshees of Inisherin” and “All Quiet on the Western Front,” with 9 nominations each.

“Everything Everywhere All At Once,” directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, is a sci-fi adventure-comedy distributed by A24 Productions. Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan take the viewers on a trip through the multiverse like no one has seen before.

Known to its fans as “EEAAOO,” this adventure movie is a thought-provoking story that leaves you thinking about the meaning of life. A critic on the platform Rotten Tomatoes described it as “an expertly calibrated assault on the senses.”

“EEAAO” received 11 nominations today, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, Best Directing and Best Music. EEAAO can be streamed on Paramount Plus.

“The Banshees of Inisherin” fell just shortly behind with 9 nominations, including Lead Actor, Best Directing, Best Film Editing and Best Picture.

Set on a fictional Irish island and directed by Martin McDonagh, this film, a dark tragicomedy, follows two friends, played by Colin Ferrell and Brendan Gleeson. Gleeson’s character, Colm, wakes up and decides that he no longer wants to be friends with Padraic, played by Ferrell.

One critic described the film as having “evocative cinematography and a gorgeous score.” “The Banshees of Inisherin” is now streaming on HBO Max.

“All Quiet on the Western Front” matched the previously mentioned film with its own 9 nominations. The nominations included Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best International Feature Film and Best Visual Effects.

“All Quiet on the Western Front,” directed by Edward Berger, is a Netflix original adapted from the renowned novel with the same title. The movie follows a German soldier on the front lines during World War I. “All Quiet on the Western Front” is available to stream on Netflix.

You can find the full list of nominees on the Academy’s website.
