Middle Tennessee became the eighth team in NCAA Tournament history to upset a No. 2 seed as a No. 15 seed, beating Michigan State 90-81 on Friday.

Within minutes, MTSU was trending on Twitter, and they had the social media world in a frenzy after their historic upset.

Here are a few of the best tweets:

Dickie V, you’re not alone. Because of MTSU’s win, only two brackets remained perfect, but both had South Dakota State to upset Maryland. Maryland was able to hold off the Jackrabbits and win 79-74, crushing the bracket maker’s dreams of a perfect bracket.

Skip Bayless, did you really mean this, or are you just trying to make up for the shots you took at our football program earlier this year?

Stephen A. Smith, who presented a Black History Month keynote at MTSU in February, giving recognition to one of the greatest games in NCAA Tournament history.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is how you finish off the No. 2 seed Michigan State. Reggie Upshaw slams it home to finish off the highly favored Spartans.

The winner of the best tweet goes to Bleacher Report, and there’s no need to issue an apology.

Giddy Potts will forever haunt Michigan State fans and their dreams.

Interesting statistic. Maybe MTSU will make a historic run of their own to the Final Four.
