The Middle Tennessee (3-14, 1-2) volleyball team kicked off their brief Texas road trip with a trip to San Antonio to take on C-USA opponent The University of Texas at San Antonio.
Coming out of the gates early, the Blue Raiders were on early, but mistakes in the first set cost them. UTSA took advantage early, taking the first set with ease, 25-18.
The Blue Raiders rebounded in the second, taking a four point lead, their largest lead of the whole game. UTSA didn’t wait long, scoring four straight to tie the game, and ultimately taking the second set, looking for the sweep in the third.
Aiming to not be swept in straight sets for the eighth time this season, the Blue Raiders came out strong in the third set. The Roadrunners found more consistency overall, as they had done all match, taking the third set and the sweep 25-18, 25-22, and 25-23.
Freshman Delaney Taylor proved once again that she’s a reliable assist-leader for the team, finishing with 15 in the game.
The Blue Raiders finished the two-game Texas trip with a trip to El Paso to face off against UTEP.
Middle Tennessee started out strong, looking to win their first set on their Texas road trip. The Blue Raiders battled early, taking the first set 26-18.
UTEP responded quickly, not letting up on the Blue Raiders, taking the next three sets with ease. The loss was the 14th of the year for the Blue Raiders, with just 13 games left in the regular season.
Senior Chelsea Ross lead the Blue Raiders with 20 kills in the game, and sophomore Jacqueline Lux lead the team with 17 digs.
UP NEXT – The Blue Raiders (3-14) return to Murfreesboro to play conference opponent Louisiana Tech (6-10) on October 2 at 7 p.m.
