Three short documentaries made by 11 MTSU students will be shown at the Belcourt Theatre Tuesday night.
Shot in Paris, the three films, “Fighter,” “A Designer’s Canvas” and “Le Debut,” document French fashion designers and musicians on the verge of success.
“Fighter” details the trials and triumphs of Afro-French singer Jara Ezo, who used music and family as an escape from racial adversity, “A Designer’s Canvas” focuses on a young fashion designer inspired by classical Paris, and “Le Debut” documents fashion designer Alice Elia’s transition from design school into the real world of fashion.
All the films were shot, edited and produced by the students.
Led by acclaimed filmmaker and MTSU professor and Documentary Channel founder Tom Neff, the films were created as part of MTSU’s Signatory Documentary Program Abroad, a continuing program that offers students the opportunity to gain filmmaking experience in foreign locales.
The screenings are free of charge and will be presented by the student filmmakers at 7 p.m.
